A New Life in Christ

Preparing in Prayer

December 5, 2026

JBU is preparing a baptism worship service with brothers and sisters who gather for worship in the open air at MacArthur Park. About ten people are preparing to confess Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and begin a new life of faith.

A NEW LIFE

Clothed with Christ, Walking in New Life

“For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.” — Galatians 3:27

We are preparing special baptism robes for the brothers and sisters who are preparing for baptism. These are not newly purchased costumes. They are choir robes previously used by a church, received and carefully cleaned and prepared for this service.

Baptism is not only a ceremony. It is a confession of faith in which a person acknowledges Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and begins a new life in Christ. As each person puts on a prepared robe, we hope the meaning of being clothed with Christ will take root in the heart.

PRAYER FOCUS

Pray With Us

  1. Pray that each person preparing for baptism will personally meet Jesus Christ and confess a sincere faith.

  2. Pray that they will deeply understand God’s love and saving grace as they learn Scripture and prepare for the baptism conversation.

  3. Pray for wisdom and love for the ministry workers, and for the place, supplies, and resources needed for the service.

  4. Pray that ongoing care and discipleship will continue within a community of faith after baptism.

Our Prayer

Loving and gracious Father, we pray for these precious souls whom You love. Though the world may see them as small or weak, we believe each one is a precious life made in Your image. We place the baptism worship service planned for December 5 in Your hands. May those preparing for baptism understand the cross of Jesus Christ and the hope of the resurrection, and confess Jesus as Savior and Lord with their own lips. Bring comfort and restoration amid the wounds of their past, guide their steps, and let the Holy Spirit remain with every part of this preparation. May they continue to grow as disciples in a community of love and faith after baptism. Give love and wisdom to every co-worker, and provide everything needed. May Jesus Christ alone be exalted and all glory be given to God. In the name of Jesus Christ our Savior, amen.

CHRISTMAS GIFTS OF LOVE

Christmas Gifts of Love

Listening to a small hope at Christmas

Separately from the baptism service, we hope to prepare small Christmas gifts for the brothers and sisters who worship together with us. After listening to each person and learning what they truly need or hope for through a Christmas wish list, we plan to prepare appropriate gifts.

A gift is not a condition or reward for baptism. It is a freely given expression of love for neighbors who worship with us. What matters is not the size of the gift, but listening to one person’s hope, remembering them, and sharing love.

The existing Zeffy page does not currently offer a project-designation field. The button below opens JBU’s general giving page; please contact JBU if you would like to ask about supporting this project specifically.
