READ TOGETHER
Read together and learn to listen, understand, and ask meaningful questions.
Read Together. Explore Together. Awaken Dreams. Do Life Together.
JBU R.E.A.D. Circle is a developing online reading and mentoring program created to walk alongside young people facing challenging circumstances. Through reading, meaningful conversation, encouragement, and caring relationships, we hope to create a space where young people can discover their gifts, grow in confidence, deepen their faith, and develop as future leaders. We believe meaningful change often begins small — with one book, one conversation, and one caring relationship.
Read together and learn to listen, understand, and ask meaningful questions.
Explore ideas, experiences, choices, and questions that connect reading with everyday life.
Encourage young people to discover their gifts, strengths, possibilities, and hopes for the future.
Build caring and consistent relationships that encourage character, faith, responsibility, and servant leadership.
Read together.
Read a book or selected text and discover important ideas.
Talk together.
Share thoughts and experiences around good questions, and listen to one another’s stories.
Reflect on Scripture and life.
Connect what we read with our lives through a short QT and Scripture reflection.
Take a small step.
Turn learning into a small choice and practice for the week, encouraging one another along the way.
As the program develops, Scripture reflection and QT (Quiet Time) will be naturally incorporated into the mentoring experience. Young people will be encouraged to connect what they read with Scripture, personal reflection, everyday choices, and prayer. Rather than creating another formal class, R.E.A.D. Circle seeks to provide a relational space where reading, faith, character, and leadership can grow together.
JBU R.E.A.D. Circle hopes to walk alongside young people facing challenging circumstances, especially those who may have limited access to consistent mentoring, educational encouragement, or supportive relationships. We will begin small, learn carefully, and grow as trusted mentors, partners, and resources become available.
R.E.A.D. Circle also creates opportunities for college students, seminarians, young adults, and high school students preparing for college to serve while developing their own leadership. Younger volunteers will participate with appropriate adult guidance and supervision. In this way, R.E.A.D. Circle helps emerging leaders learn to listen, serve, encourage, and lead with care.
JBU plans to begin with a small pilot rather than building a large program at once. As resources become available, JBU hopes to develop mentor training, reading materials, program coordination, and appropriate support for those carrying ongoing responsibilities. This allows the program to grow responsibly and sustainably while keeping meaningful relationships at its center.
One book at a time. One conversation at a time. One young life at a time.
R.E.A.D. Circle is currently preparing the program structure and mentoring materials for a small pilot. As the right people, resources, and caring relationships come together, we hope to take the first steps thoughtfully.
