The People Behind Every Meal

Starting September 2, we can share warm meals once again.

For some time, the meals prepared each week have been delivered to our unhoused neighbors in the MacArthur area through the hands of many workers and volunteers.

The restaurant that prepared the boxed meals moved to a new location, and the warm meal sponsorship it provided had to pause for a time. But thankfully, beginning September 2, we are able to prepare and share warm meals once again.

We pray for God’s blessing upon the restaurant opening its doors in a new place, and upon every hand preparing the food there.

Yet the change of pickup location has brought new challenges.

Someone prepares the food, someone drives a long way to pick it up, someone else carries it to the site, and finally, someone places a meal into the hands of a waiting neighbor.

A pastor who handles the Monday meal pickup cannot easily drive on the freeway, and now must travel about two hours round trip to the new pickup location. Even so, for the sake of the neighbors waiting for a meal, he continues to take that road.

We also need new volunteers to join the Wednesday afternoon pickup.

And we are preparing for the Wednesday morning meal distribution at MacArthur to continue without interruption.

We believe all of this is part of ministry.

When one person prepares a meal, one person drives, one person delivers, and another hands that meal over, those small connections become a bridge.

We want to build that bridge together.

Please Pray With Us

Pray that the warm meal preparation restarting on September 2 and the pickup at the new location will be established securely.

Please pray for the safety and health of the minister who drives two hours round trip to serve, and that new volunteers will be connected to help with the Wednesday afternoon pickup.

Bless the newly opening restaurant as well, that it may become more than a place that makes food — a precious channel that serves neighbors and pours out love.

Above all, through the meals shared at MacArthur, may the neighbors on the street experience not just the filling of hunger, but a small comfort and hope:

“I am not forgotten. Someone remembers me.”
